SECOND COAT

ARTIFACT SHARED VIA GOOGLE FOLDER

SECOND COAT draws primarily on Mayaford, the Zoo’s observer-specific overlays, Kapala-Halo access, “Perception Must Preserve,” and the city’s named districts and visibility subcultures to turn civic maintenance into a hijacked communication layer. Det. Donaldson is designated as reviewer of the confidential MPD bulletin.

The stigmergy is in the communicative graffiti writing and indirect feedback loop: writers leave small, selectively perceptible seeds; the city dispatches cleaning/maintenance contractors and alters the environment in response; other writers read that response and extend it through chained tags. No one has to coordinate the whole sequence because each trace becomes the prompt for the next action.

The traffic jam is a new AR-native art form and subversive communication medium that sprung up out of the graffiti subculture of Mayaford. The city cannot ignore the vandalism (unauthorized markings), but every official cleaning generates new geometry, residue, and civic overlays for SECOND COAT practitioners to appropriate and remix. The abatement system runs to protocol/procedure and still becomes an unwitting co-author and distribution channel of subversive signaling.
